| AFCB Ladies hosted Christchurch Ladies in the
opening round of the Hampshire FA County Cup competition. Last year
saw the cherries reach the cup final against
premier league Pompey. The competition has for years been
dominated by Saints and Portsmouth. However, the cherries are again
working for a place in the final this campaign in order to be
recognised as one of the big south coast clubs.
Christchurch made the very short trip to Chapel Gates main pitch
for this very entertaining cup tie. AFCB Ladies and Christchurch
literally lay leagues apart in the domestic competition; but the cup
can always throw up a few odd results; for this reason manager Shaun Langrish picked his strongest available team to start the fixture.
It took just 3 minutes for the cherries to penetrate the xchurch
back line when a searching ball from Janie Morgan found Justine
Loughton in space 20 yards out, with a quick look up she fired against
the cross bar. This set the tone for the rest of the game.
Christchurch worked tirelessly but did not have end product to their
limited possession.
(7mins) Bell plays Roe in on the left, Roe squares to Loughton who
places neatly in the back of the net.

(10mins) Roe again committing both full back and centre half
delivers to Langrish - just wide.
(14mins) Goater switches the ball to Roe who spots the keeper out
of position - Chips over the keeper from 18 yards. GOAL!
(16mins) Loughton drills into the path of Roe who lays of for
Keehan - wide again.
(17mins) Corner Kick. Great whipped delivery from Morgan, Heydon
rises to flick the ball in at the near post. GOAL!
(23mins) Bell, Langrish and Goater all link up well to find Roe who
picks out Keehans arrival - Volley and in. GOAL!
(28mins) Corner Kick - Morgan plays short to Goater who crosses to
the far post for Loughton to head in her second. GOAL!
(32mins) Goater receives from Fisher. Ball flicked to Bell who
squares for Roe to place in the roof of the net. GOAL!
(44mins) Bell pounces on a goalkeeping error. GOAL!

(47mins) Loughton heads into the path of Langrish who makes no
mistake in drilling the ball hard into the bottom right. GOAL!
(51mins) Langrish returns the favour heading down for Loughton to
fire in. GOAL!
(53mins) Bell with a classy drag back to fool the centre half 18
yards out smashes the ball high into the roof of the net. GOAL!
(60mins) Keeper Isom called into action, comes off her line to
close down the ball using her head to block.
(61mins) Isom spots Goater wandering. Route one. Goater runs onto
the long ball and does well to finish. GOAL!
(67mins) Roe causes confusion in the defence and rockets the ball
into the net from a tight angle. GOAL!
(73mins) Corner Kick. Loughton gets up unchallenged to head home
again. GOAL!
(75mins) Roe goes alone with some fine trickery and a even finer
finish. GOAL!
(81mins) Bell is set up by Langrish and whips a great ball over the
stranded keeper. GOAL!
(88mins) with minutes remaining Goater receives the ball 25 yards
out. With plenty of time to pick her spot unleashes a great shot far
out of the keepers reach - top left locker. GOAL!

The cherries must get back on track in the league in order to catch
